What is your shop name and what is the significance?
AshbeesCrafts- My last name is Ashby and My First name is Deborah which means Honey Bee and industrious.  I have always liked Bees so I just added the two. AshBeesCrafts ABC it's as easy as 123.

What do you love about Idaho?
I grew up a in Idaho living on a small Farm. We worked hard as a family trying to run a small dairy. We were quite poor so I learned how to be creative by using things around me. I didn't move far when I grew up, only a mile up the road to become the wife of the cute neighbor boy. We ran a dairy business for 32 years and now own Heritage Cabinetry LLC.

Name one thing you would suggest people do when they come to visit the state?
Our mountains are  a beautiful place to visit, I love to drive through the farming community. Out of towners seem to like to know about the different crops grown around here. Guess I'm just a farm girl at heart. Not much of a shopper unless it has to do with crafts.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I have never lived anywhere but Middleton, Idaho. I love where I live and am very content living in my log home that my husband I built by ourselves. We cut 75 lodge-pole pine trees down and sawed, scraped bark and stacked them ourselves.

What do you do to relax?
I paint, sew, and spend time with my family. I have 23 grand kids that keep me busy. I also love to work on Genealogy.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
I always thought Ireland or Scotland would be fun.

Currently, what is your favorite shop item?
My Wooden Photos are my favorites. But, I also love to paint so my painted items are great too.

How did you become interested in your craft?
I never remember a time in my life that I wasn't making something. It's just something that I do. I'm always looking for something I can make, paint, sew, or crochet.

What do you enjoy about the creative process?
One of the favorites is my Wooden Photos. I take a piece of wood and a photo  and  make a lasting memory that can be passed on as an heirloom. It's like creating little people.

Any suggestions for those interested in selling their handmade items or vintage finds?
Make sure you love what you do, it is no fun to have to do something day after day and not enjoy it. Also try a new product on your friends and family before you invest all your time and money on it. If they don't like it chances are others won't either.

I love learning new things and sometimes I get so many different things going I can't keep up with everything.  I need to make my self the sign that say's "This is my Craft area, it is not a mess, it is Creative Clutter."

Thank you Deborah for taking the time to let us get to know you a bit better! I highly encourage you to check out Deborah's shop HERE to see more!
