The Story Behind the Photo: Winter Cactus

One of my favorite things to do is go outside and take photos around my yard. I love observing the tiny details in nature and capturing the beauty of the earth we are so blessed to live in.

Last winter I was wandering around looking for something interesting to photograph. My options were limited since everything is dead and brown during winter, so when I came across this colorful cactus I was thrilled.

My Grandmother has fond memories or her Great-Grandmother Dixon and this cactus. In fact, the cactus in our yard is in memory of her. So, this photo is even more special to me because of it's ties to my ancestry.

I love this photo because it shows that beauty truly lies everywhere-- even in the dead of winter. We just have to find it.

I hope you enjoy the photo! :)

Sincerely,
Sal

P.S. Sorry about the watermark...it's a shame, but since I also sell my artwork I have to keep my name on it for copyright reasons.... :(
